牟合方盖是一种几何体，是两个等半径圆柱躺在平面上垂直相交的公共部分，因为像是两个方形的盖子合在一起，所以被称作「牟合方盖」。

阿基米德与祖冲之分别用不同方法计算出球体的体积是\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3，r为圆柱半径。祖冲之使用的方法正是通过计算出牟合方盖的体积为\frac{16}{3} r^3，从而推出了球体体积的计算公式。
