木槿属（学名:Hibiscus）是锦葵科的一个属，是一类灌木或小乔木植物。

常见的木槿属植物有：木槿、扶桑、木芙蓉、玫瑰茄。

Hibiscus的字源自古埃及的神祇Hibis美神（现今埃及还有祭祀她的庙），今日被用为植物分类学锦葵科木槿属的属名，源自西元77年，一位希腊军医狄奥科里斯奉罗马皇帝尼禄之命，在地中海一带寻访药用植物，并编成《论药物》医书，他被尊称为药物学之父，该书详细描述600余种医药用植物的特性，他以希腊字「Ibiskos」替沼泽锦葵（Althaea officinalis）命名，这是一种与木槿属同为锦葵科（Malvaceae）近亲的植物，常作为芳香疗法的原料，又称为药蜀葵。

Hibiscus (/hᵻˈbɪskəs/ or /haɪˈbɪskəs/) is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. It is quite large, containing several hundred species that are native to warm-temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. Member species are often noted for their showy flowers and are commonly known simply as hibiscus, or less widely known as rose mallow. The genus includes both annual and perennial herbaceous plants, as well as woody shrubs and small trees. The generic name is derived from the Greek word ἱβίσκος (hibískos), which was the name Pedanius Dioscorides (ca. 40–90) gave to Althaea officinalis.
