Dimethisterone

Dimethisterone (INN, USAN, BAN) (brand names Lutagan, Secrosteron), also known as 6α,21-dimethylethisterone, is a steroidal progestin that is used as a hormonal contraceptive in combination with high doses of ethinyl estradiol (100 mcg) under the brand name Oracon. It is a relatively weak progestin, in fact, one of the weakest known, and unlike ethisterone, has no androgenic effects in animals even at very high dosages. Dimethisterone was introduced in the United States as Oracon in 1965.
