成立于1858年12月21日，县名来自同名的河 （来源有二：一为西班牙语 San Juan的讹用，另一为切罗基语sawani一词，意思是「回声河」）。本县是一个禁酒的县。

Suwannee County is a county located in the state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 41,551. Its county seat is Live Oak. Suwannee County was a dry county until August 2011, when the sale of alcoholic beverages became legal in the county.
