孤波（Soliton wave，又称“孤子波”、“孤立子、孤立波”）是非线性科学三大分支之一，应用于物理、数学等诸多领域。

孤子波是一类由于非线性作用引起的横波，它在运动过程中形状保持不变。其初等函数的解析表示最早于1895年获得，并随着量子力学、电子计算机等科学技术的发展逐步受到重视。

The wave heights of the solitary waves are 1.2 and 0.6, respectively, and their velocities are 1.4 and 1.2. The upper graph is for a frame of reference moving with the average velocity of the solitary waves. The lower graph (with a different vertical scale and in a stationary frame of reference) shows the oscillatory tail produced by the interaction.[4] Thus, the solitary wave solutions of the BBM equation are not solitons.

In mathematics and physics, a soliton is a self-reinforcing solitary wave (a wave packet or pulse) that maintains its shape while it propagates at a constant velocity. Solitons are caused by a cancellation of nonlinear and dispersive effects in the medium. (The term "dispersive effects" refers to a property of certain systems where the speed of the waves varies according to frequency). Solitons are the solutions of a widespread class of weakly nonlinear dispersive partial differential equations describing physical systems.
