机器人世界杯（RoboCup）是一个国际合作项目，为促进人工智能、机器人和相关领域。它为人工智能机器人研究提供了广泛的技术标准问题，能够被综合和检验。该机器人项目的最终目标是:到2050年，开发完全自主仿人机器人队，能赢得对人类足球世界冠军队。为了真正作为一个团队进行机器人足球比赛，必须包含各种技术，包括：智能体自主设计、多智能体协作、策略获取、实时推理、机器人和传感器融合。机器人世界杯中还提供了软件平台进行软件方面在机器人世界杯中的研究。

目前共有三个全球性的机器人比赛联盟， 分别是以亚太地区为主的「国际奥林匹克机器人大赛」（WRO， World Robot Olympiad）、总部位于美国的「第一乐高联盟」（FLL，FIRST Lego League）， 与近来相当受人瞩目的机器人世界杯足球赛。

RoboCup is an annual international robotics competition proposed and founded in 1997. The aim is to promote robotics and AI research, by offering a publicly appealing, but formidable challenge. The name RoboCup is a contraction of the competition's full name, "Robot Soccer World Cup", but there are many other stages of the competition such as "RoboCupRescue", "RoboCup@Home" and "RoboCupJunior". In 2015 the world's competition was held in Hefei, China. RoboCup 2016 will be held in Leipzig, Germany.
