Kiuruvesi is a town and municipality of Finland located in the former province of Eastern Finland and is part of the Northern Savonia region. The municipality has a population of 8,729 (30 June 2015) and covers an area of 1,422.90 square kilometres (549.38 sq mi) of which 94.79 km (36.60 sq mi) is water. The population density is 6.57 inhabitants per square kilometre (17.0/sq mi). Neighbour municipalities are Iisalmi, Pielavesi, Pyhäjärvi, Pyhäntä and Vieremä.
