Dichlorocarbene

Dichlorocarbene is the reactive intermediate with chemical formula CCl₂. Although this material has not been isolated, it is a common intermediate in organic chemistry, being generated from chloroform. This bent diamagnetic molecule rapidly inserts into other bonds.
