The municipality has a population of 5,108 (30 June 2015) and covers an area of 218.03 square kilometres (84.18 sq mi) of which 5.61 km (2.17 sq mi) is water. The population density is 24.05 inhabitants per square kilometre (62.3/sq mi). Neighbouring municipalities are Myrskylä, Mäntsälä, Pornainen, Porvoo and Pukkila.
