头夹肌（Splenius capitis muscle）起始于项韧带的下半部、第七段颈椎的棘突和上面三段或四段胸椎的棘突。

肌肉纤维向上和横向，在胸锁乳突肌（Sterno）的覆盖下附着至颞骨的乳突上，且附着至枕骨在上项线外三分之一下方的粗糙面上。

头夹肌是由背支 C1-C8 所支配的。
