Even in the dry summer season, these waterfalls still cascade down more than 200 feet, making the Shoshone falls 46 feet taller than their New York cousin.
But as the Idaho snow melts each spring, Shoshone Falls is transformed into one of Idaho's great natural wonders, an impressive torrent of water that's best experienced from the air.
Shoshone Falls (/ʃoʊˈʃoʊn/) is a waterfall on the Snake River in southern Idaho, located approximately five miles (8 km) east of the city of Twin Falls. Sometimes called the "Niagara of the West," Shoshone Falls is 212 feet (65m) high—45 feet (14m) higher than Niagara Falls—and flows over a rim 1,000 feet (300m) wide.
