东太平洋马鲛为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目鲭亚目鲭科的其中一种，分布于中东太平洋区，从美国加州南部至秘鲁海域，栖息深度可达12公尺，本鱼腹鳍间的突起小而两裂，身体覆盖着小鳞片，侧线逐渐地对于尾柄弯曲下来，泳鳔不存在，腹鳍相当长，侧边银色的有很多的圆褐色的斑点，第一背鳍末梢部地是黑色的与在基底的白色，第二个背鳍被有些许色调淡黄色的而且有黑色的边缘，臀鳍白色，背鳍硬棘15-18枚;背鳍软条16-19枚;臀鳍软条16-21枚;脊椎骨46-49枚，体长可达99公分，栖息在沿岸海域，属肉食性，以鱼类为食，可做为食用鱼、游钓鱼。

The Pacific sierra (Scomberomorus sierra) also known as the Mexican sierra, is a ray-finned bony fish in the family Scombridae, better known as the mackerel family. More specifically, this fish is a member of the tribe Scomberomorini, the Spanish mackerels.
