莲如（日语：莲如，1415年4月4日－1499年5月5日）古日本室町时代净土真宗僧人，本愿寺中兴之祖，幼名布袋丸、幸亭丸讳称兼寿，尊称莲如上人，谥号慧灯大师，呼号本愿寺莲如。

1415年4月13日（应永22年2月25日），莲如出生于京都东山，他是第七世存如的长子，母亲身份不明，幼名“布袋丸”。

1431年（永享3年），17岁的莲如在青莲院剃度，名“中纳言兼寿”。

1442年（嘉吉2年），莲如开始在寺院中宣扬净土真宗的教义，1499年（明应8年）2月20日，莲如圆寂。

Rennyo(莲如) (1415–1499) was the 8th Monshu, or head-priest, of the Honganji Temple of the Jōdo Shinshū sect of Buddhism, and descendant of founder Shinran. Jodo Shinshu Buddhists often referred to as the restorer of the sect (Chūkō no so(中兴の祖) in Japanese). He was also known as Shinshō-in (信证院), and posthumously Etō Daishi (慧灯大师). During the conflict of the Onin War and the subsequent warfare that spread throughout Japan, Rennyo was able to unite most of the disparate factions of the Jodo Shinshu sect under the Honganji, reform existing liturgy and practices, and broaden support among different classes of society. Through Rennyo's efforts, Jodo Shinshu grew to become the largest, most influential Buddhist sect in Japan.
