彼得（希腊语：Πετρος，天主教中文译伯多禄或伯铎，正教中文译裴特若，1年－67年6月29日），基督教创始者耶稣所收的十二使徒之一，初代教会的核心人物之一。 天主教会认为他创建了罗马教会，是罗马教会的第一位主教，也就是第一任教宗。 基督新教则认为罗马教会多半不是彼得创建的，他甚至不一定去过罗马；罗马主教成为众教会之首、被奉为教宗是第五世纪以后逐渐创建的传统。

按照新约圣经记载，彼得是加利利海边的一位渔夫，本名西门（希腊语：Σίμων），由兄弟安得烈带领认识耶稣。耶稣给他改名为矶法（希腊语：Κηφᾶς），即亚兰文“磐石”的意思，翻译成希腊文就是彼得。他就开始跟随耶稣，认出耶稣是神的儿子，是耶稣最亲近的门徒之一，福音书中对十二门徒的记载以彼得最多。耶稣被捕以后，他失去信心，别人问他是否是耶稣的门徒，他三次否认，正如耶稣预言的一样。耶稣复活以后，他的信心重新得到坚固。耶稣升天以后，他开始讲道，传讲耶稣是基督的福音，并带领教会。他有两封书信被收入新约圣经，另外，写马可福音的马可是他的门徒。按照教会传统说法，他后来在尼禄逼迫基督教的时候到了罗马，不久殉道，按照他自己的要求被倒钉十字架而死，因为他认为自己不配像耶稣一样钉十字架。

Saint Peter (Greek: Πέτρος Petros, Syriac/Aramaic: ܫܸܡܥܘܿܢ ܟܹ݁ܐܦ݂ܵܐ, Shemayon Keppa, Hebrew:שמעון בר יונה‎ Shim'on bar Yona, Latin:Petrus; died c.****AD), also known as Simon Peter, Simeon, or Simōn, according to the New Testament, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, leaders of the early Christian Church. He is also the "Apostle of the Apostles", an honor during the 3rd century theologian Hippolytus of Rome gave him and the Roman Catholic Church considers him to be the first pope, ordained by Jesus in the "Rock of My Church" dialogue in Matthew 16:18. The ancient Christian churches all venerate Peter as a major saint and associate him with founding the Church of Antioch and later the Church in Rome, but differ about the authority of his various successors in present-day Christianity.
