有很多诗及短文都在这段时期被保留下来，纵使有些作品如《高多汀》(Y Gododdin) 诗作都是以后期手稿的形式存留。现存最古老且全然以古威尔斯语写成的作品应为目前保存于特温 (Tywyn) 教堂的一座墓碑，然则其年代也只在8世纪早期。另外还有一份利奇菲尔德福音 (Book of St. Chad) 也是以古威尔斯语及拉丁语写成，虽然这份作品被认为是写于8世纪晚期或9世纪，然而它却可能是6世纪或7世纪一份作品的复本。
