Kuřim (Czech pronunciation:[ˈkur̝ɪm]; German:Gurein) is a town in the district of Brno-countryside in South Moravian Region. It is situated 14 kilometers north-west of Brno and about 5 kilometers nearby dam Brněnská přehrada. In 2011 there were 10 857 inhabitants and is the largest city of Brno-Country district. There is a prison for convicted men aged 18 years and more in the cadaster of the city.
