HM Prison Holloway (sometimes known as Holloway Castle) is a closed category prison for adult women and young offenders, located in the Holloway area of the London Borough of Islington, in London, England. The prison is operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service. It is the largest women's prison in western Europe. George Osborne, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced on 25 November 2015 that HMP Holloway will close due to its age and the fact it is unsuited to the needs of a modern prison.
