推本究源，「富利波士顿金融集团（FleetBoston Financial Corp.）」之前身，可被徂溯至十八世纪末叶的「罗德岛州普罗维登斯银行（Providence Bank of Rhode Island）」。

2003年，历二百载光景里不同阶段之逐步购并、成长、更名，「富利波士顿金融」业已演变发展为美国第七大金融控股集团（按资产额排行）；其时，美国第三大金控集团「美国银行（Bank of America Corp.）」，同意以价值470亿美元之股票，全面收购富利。自此，「富利波士顿金融」成为「美国银行」的直接全资附属成员；美国银行为合并后之存续银行，富利波士顿则为消灭银行。

FleetBoston Financial was a Boston, Massachusetts–based bank created in 1999 by the merger of Fleet Financial Group and BankBoston. In 2004 it merged with Bank of America; all of its banks and branches were converted to Bank of America.
