涡流扩散（Eddy diffusion）是因为在大气或是其他流体系统中，因为涡流产生的扩散作用。在另一个定义中，是因为涡流造成的混合，涡流可以小到紊流中的科莫微尺度，也可以大到像海洋环流。

因为大气中混合的微观过程太复杂，无法具体的建模，大气建模者一般都会将大气的混合视为「涡流」的扩散进程。依此研究方式，各压力等级的扩散速度会用一个称为涡流扩散系数（eddy diffusion coefficient）K来建模，涡流扩散系数有时也称为涡流扩散率（eddy diffusivity），单位).

Eddy diffusion, eddy dispersion, multipath, or turbulent diffusion is any diffusion process by which substances are mixed in the atmosphere or in any fluid system due to eddy motion. In another definition it is mixing that is caused by eddies that can vary in size from the small Kolmogorov microscales to subtropical gyres.
