Karthikeyan (Tamil: Kārttikēyaṉ கார்த்திகேயன், முருகன் Sanskrit कार्त्तिकेय Kārttikēya "son of Kaarthigai pendir" ) (/ˌkɑːrtɪˈkeɪjə/), also known as Murugan, Skandan or Kandan, Kumaran, Kumara Swami Guhan, Velan, Senthilnathan, Swaminathan, Dhandhayudapani, Saravanan, ஆறுமுகன் AaRumugan (meaning six faced one) and Subramaniam, is the Hindu god of war. He is the Commander-in-Chief of the army of the devas and the son of Shiva. He is also the primary deity of the Kaumaram sect of Hinduism.
